The risk IT testing industry facing-commnditisation

Testing has always been a separate part from software development lifecycle and is an essential part of it. However, companies don’t realize the value and necessity of the activity until now. Nowadays its offer has been growed fastest for IT companies, but the segment faces the risk of commnditisation due to low entry barriers.

David Taylor, president of Asia-Pacific and Japan, suggests that testing is recently recognised as a distinct expertise and an area providing true competitive advantage while it as a practice dates back. Software testing has matured globally in the last 15 years. And now in India it’s a great time to be in software testing and an even better time to be a tester. In the mid 1990s, software testing was only regarded as a part of the software development cycle, but today, it is a separate service and businesses globally are requesting independent validation. The reason is not the lack of the right tools to accomplish the task, but the cost of acquiring those tools is daunting. Surely, many IT organizations have taken to moving application testing into the cloud to help reduce IT infrastructure costs, though, a lot of companies are cautious of moving the intellectual property into the cloud. Than thanks to the automated software testing, the IT organizations are rapidly running out of excuses for develoying software later.

37 percent of respondents of the survey, which was conducted in London at TestExpo 2011 annual spring event by Sogeti and attended by more than 250 of the UK’s leading software testing and Quality Assurance professionals, suggested that their budgets and resources were not being allocated to the correct address. The risk of end user communities is continuously increasing. Moreover, it’s becoming more widely distributed geographically.

Brian Shea, CEO of Sogeti UK, said the real-life concerns were the UK’s leading testing and QA professionals in a press release according to the survey.
